Okay, have a question. My youngest children's school has a PTA. One of the ladies in charge of running the annual carnival has issues with me, basically she hates me. That's okay with me, however, when it carries over to my children I have an issue. So, here's the scenario what are your ideas on how to handle this situation?
Every year, we recruit older students to help with the carnival (set-up, running the games, tear down, etc...). My oldest son has helped in the past. This year he needs to earn community service points for one of his classes and was happy that assisting with the elementary carnival would fulfill some of those points.
Well, I asked the lady (yep, the one who hates me) in front of a few other PTA gals if my son could help and she said "okay, have him here at 5pm." Next day, I get a call from her friend (whom I get along with) telling me that they just got 8 more high school students to help with set-up and won't be needing my oldest. Hmmm..... Okay, fine, I can actually deal with that.
The night of the carnival arrives and while my oldest son is out of the house one of his friends call to find out if he will be at the carnival (his friend has younger brothers at the same school, too). I tell him I don't know if my oldest is going and can my son call him back at home? The friend is not at home, he's at the school helping with the carnival. OH! So I asked him when he signed up to help. OH! He didn't. He just showed up and they are putting him to work.
So basically, how do I handle this?
