different carnival ideas

I had a booth for Guitar Hero and Dance Revolution. It only made $35.00 b/c the songs or dances took a while for each time someone played. Some songs on Guitar Hero can last 5 minutes. I charged $2.00 per turn. It was busy with the older kids the whole Festival. My suggestion is to limit the time per turn.

We are trying something a little different. Our carnival is right before Halloween. While most of the games are the same as usual, we are having a theme for each game. Like the Gone Fishing game is Tropical with coloring books and crayons with fish on them, the tatoos-Pirate, face painting- mardi gras (selling mardi gras beads to go with face painting), bowling-Hollywood, cell phone water games, Football toss, sport ball keychains and pens with pom poms on them, get the idea. Some other themes...luau, soldier, cowboy, western (yea, I know same, but we needed them both to fit games, hehe) chinese, farm.... Kind of thought that since everybody dresses up in different "themes", why not try this... We'll see how it goes.

O yea and we do live gold fish. The players toss ping pong balls in baskets lined up like bowling pins (1, then 2, then 3). Get a basket-win a gold fish. Local pet shop gets fish for about .20 and donates bags to send them home in. We pick them up in an old cooler. So far, they all wait till the kids get them home to die. hahaha

Good Luck.

I'm with you in wanting somthing new for carnival. Ours is huge and a lot of fun with games, giant blow up obstacles courses, silent auction, raffle....the usual stuff. But I was just thinking about maybe a room with 4 or 5 t.v's and had Guitar Hero offered at $2 each time. I'm sure it would make close to $200 in and of itself.

I collect pinball machines. I took 7 of my games to the carnival for the kids to play. .25 a game with 3 balls. It was fun watching the kids play. Most had no clue what to do. Try contacting a local Amusement Vender and see if they have anything to offer for the day.
