OK, Our first meeting of the school year is this week. Already the principal is asking us to donate money for two 5th grade students for a National Society thru the local university.
We had a member last school year whose child was a student ambassodor and we informed that mom we could not give a monetary donation but would assist with manpower and ideas for her own fundraisers. Our reason---we can not give donations to a select individuals only to a grade or the school as a whole. That mom volunteered for every PTA event and is now this year's President.

I wonder if this will lead to parents adking for donations from anything to clubs, sports activities, child care, etc.

If is is voted to pay for membership for these students sould we stipulate a certain number of volunteer hours form the parents of these students.
