If you are doing it as a fundraiser, you want something that all children can participate in. A spelling bee would not be a way to be inclusive for all students. A dance a thon, hop a thon and jumprope a thon can be done by all students.
Our school has children with special needs and not everyone finds math or spelling an easy task or an enjoyable one. Anxiety can be a concern for some. So the fun stuff is what would go over well with most elementary students.

My name is Katja and I am new to this message board. This is also my first year on the PTO. I have a question about fundraisers. We did a math-a-thon last year and it was great and they made alot of money. We will do that again. Has anyone ever done a Spelling Bee for the whole school, each classroom does one for all the kids and maybe have sponsars like the math-a-thon? Or maybe a jumprope-a-thon.
