Teacher welcome back gifts?

17 years 7 hours ago #134536 by LooneyBin
Our school has done the nice basket idea...fill it with supplies for the teachers and kids...but now we find they like $$$ even better! We give them all a check in August so they can shop for classroom supplies wherever they like.

That is such a nice idea. I purchased 2007-2008 planners for all teachers and staff. I spent about $220. We are also purchasing a new fridge for the lounge. The fridge that is in there now is old, dirty, and too small. We will also have a coffee and water service this year.

I found at Wal-Mart today healthy snack chips in individual bags for 5 cents each! Daughter was with me and died laughing when we took 50 bags.

Think I will get bottles of water and put with them and attach a cute saying. Found one on here last year and used that, but hope to find a new cute one for this year.

Here is the one from last year.

Thank You For Being Here

Summer break is over, school has to start,
and we want to thank you from the bottom of our heart,

Our children look forward to coming here,
After meeting you, the reason is clear.

Your love and kindness shine like the sun,
and you make learning seem like fun.

Your could easily have choosen another path,
One that doesn't require teaching reading and math.

But with true dedication, to this school you return,
To spend time helping our children grow and learn.

So we thank you now, for we're grateful you see,
Grateful that you're helping them be all they can be.

Seems like there was also an optional ending, but I can not remember what it was.

We don't supply individual gifts, but set up a big breakfast for them on their first day back when the students are not there. We stock the lounge with coffee, tea, various treats etc. so they don't have to bring their own.

Our teachers have always commented how they are short on supplies. From pens and pencils to tissues. Kids forget them at home and the tissues are a staple in the classroom. You may want to stock them up on what they go through quickly so they don't have to purchase it themselves (which they often do) or ask parents to send in as a generous donation.

Doing it for my one and only ~~ my son!

You are all SWEET TARTS for everything you teach our children. You deserve 100 GRAND every PAYDAY. We know sometimes our kids act like AIRHEADS and NERDS or like they're from somewhere beyond the MILKY WAY. (Us parents, too!) You bring such ALMOND JOY when you teach about the WHATCHAMACALLIT and ignore their WHOPPERS. It must be hard to contain your SNICKERS when those little SUGAR BABIES tell you MOUNDS of stories. Sometimes it must seem that all you do is SKOR papers. Most days you probably want to make like BABY RUTH and just run home.

Thanks, teachers! You are the RIESEN our kids are SMARTIES instead of DUM DUMS. You are LIFESAVERS.

With HUGS and KISSES,
The PTO

Hope that helps!

I purchased a planner for all of our teachers and staff as welcome back gifts. They cost around $238 for 100 of them. Any extras will be given as gifts for volunteers. Last year, we purchased mugs from discount stores and filled them with tea bags, cocoa, gum, granola bars, etc. We wrapped them in clear cellophane and tied them with ribbon. They looked really nice! We spent about $180 last year.
