Yup - keep the speeches etc short and quick

Its about them and how you all made the enhancement of the childrens education possible.

Mingle, Mingle, Mingle (dont make them find you, find them)

Listen, Listen, Listen (you might find more willing to take on bigger responsibility or new ideas)

I've always had a powerpoint presentation going on a table throughout the (ours is a lunch) program.

Ours usually has a 2 min thank you from the Principal and PTA/PTO prez, then the lunch and mingling. Short and Simple

I am actually a picture addict when it comes to our school. So I am currently doing a power point with tons of pictures, yet they all have a fun side to them. It will probably take 6-7 minutes maxed, I am doing it at our April meeting for volunteer recognition from me. The school does thiers in June. One thing you could do is present the school with a fake check on how much the volunteer hours came to...if you know that. Or have a few kids write how they feel about the volunteers and have them read them.

I'd keep it short and sweet but sincere. Thank them profusely. Maybe share a few statistics about what their efforts helped provide:

Maryvale Volunteers are the best!
* $xxx was raised.
* X (#) of volunteers provided Y (#) of hours
* ### students went on fieldtrips
* ___ was added to the playgorund
* ### books were put on the library shelves

Fun stuff like that. Then be sure to mill around and chat with as many people as possible. Encourage your board members to do the same so you don't congregate at the same table/area. Make it clear that you're all on the same team working together, not that they helped you be successful but rather that you all helped Maryvale PTO succeed.

Sounds like fun! If you have any leftovers, pop into pg2 afterwards. :D

Do any of you do this?

We're having a Breakfast in a few weeks for our volunteers. Bagels, muffins, juice, coffee, etc. Then we are giving them lanyards that say Maryvale volunteers are the key to our school. Our principal doesnt say much at these things so I am not sure what to say or do. Any ideas. Thanks
