Help for 5th graders

17 years 7 months ago #117128 by Serendipity
We have always done bingo nights with the older kids. They charge $3 a kid to attend. They buy dollar store prizes and get some prizes donated by parents. Once a kid wins a prize they cannot win another prize. They work it out so that each kid wins a prize before the night is over. You can keep calling more numbers after the first kid wins depending on the number of children you have.
So more then one child will win each bingo game you play. They lay all the prizes out on a table and as each kid wins they just get up and go select a prize. It works really well and the kids really enjoy it.

Please help wit ideas! I was going to do a movie night for our 5th graders, but our pricipal thinks the kids wouldn't want to do that. Does anyone have any other ideas for 5th grade special event?

Let me explain more.. I took this position a bit blindly. I had some great ideas, like movie night, but then I found out that I have to make money on these special events. I thought special events would be fun things for the kids to do, no charge. Like a bowling night or science night and then make some money on concessions. Well, no, I have to charge admission, so I think that limits some of my options. For this movie night, I can only show a "G" rated movie. The principal thinks no 5th graders will do that and certainly will not sit still through a movie.
This is a new city for me, and back home our 5th graders loved movie night.

So, I'm stuck on ideas. Does anyone else have this age group with special night ideas that worked????

Thanks!
