Need Volunteers? try this!

We do that at our school now but never get many people to step up to help out. We are always very specific about what is needed, how much time it will take, etc. Parents at our school don't even want to turn in Box Tops or attend our PTO meetings much less volunteer for an event. It is so sad. There are only 2 other parents that I can count on to help out. :(

njmom,
It's free to use, if you don't mind their advertisements on your sign up pages. They give you a $3 option to remove them, per listing.
On our website, we have links directly to the individual sign up event, and reminders are sent home, if we do a flyer.

I am happy to share. I have gotten many wonderful ideas from this site, including " donuts for dads" which has turned out to be one of our most successful events ever!

RobinD, thanks so much for sharing! I'll definitely be using your suggestions before our next event.

ttnc4me, is there a fee to use mysignup? If so, how much is it? Also, do you list the site on a flyer that goes home or do you have a link to it on your website?

A tip I got off this board is to also utilize mysignup.com. For us, it has been an absolutely, tremendously, wonderful tool for activities with concrete jobs and times associated with them.

So far we've used it for movie night, teacher appreciation events, fundraiser distributions, and our upcoming christmas shop.

It's so easy to put the date, assignment and time needed, then ask people to go online to find what fits their schedule. There's no going class to class, or parent to parent, begging for help and having to manually keep track of who signed up for what.

I know I probably sound like an ad, but I've gotten such positive feedback from my involved parents as well, at how organized it is, and I just love it's ease!

Excellent ideas & pointers. I'm getting ready to write up the next Newsletter. We need to advertise for help with the Holiday Boutique. I'll be incorporating your ideas into it.

Thanks!
