Teacher as PTO President?

This is just in line with another person's issues. The key you need to relate to both the teachers and the school is that regardless of what's happened in the past, this is a new year and it is still a PARENT-TEACHER ORGANIZATION. If the school wants to run it all by themselves then what's the point of involving the parents and therefore what's the point of the organization?

HI! OUR SCHOOL IS JUST STARTING PTO. THEY HAVE SENT OUT MEMBERSHIP DRIVE FLYERS BUT HAVE NOT HAD A MEETING. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THE TEACHERS ARE GOING TO RUN THE PTO BECAUSE OF A BAD PAST WITH THE PTA SEVERAL YEARS AGO AND THEY WANT TO KEEP PROBLEM PARENTS OUT. ONE OF THE TEACHERS SAID THAT ANOTHER TEACHER ASKED HER TO BE TREASURER AND TOLD HER ONE OF THEM WAS GOING TO BE PRESIDENT. ALL THE FLYERS ARE JUST SIGNED PTO. I WAS JUST WONDERING IF THIS IS A COMMON PRACTICE....ANY ADVICE??? THANKS
