Election Day Fundraiser??

We had a bake sale during the presidential election at our school since were are a polling station. We asked each grade level to donate a specific food items (brownies, cupcakes, cookies, sodas and bottled water). The 3rd graders made signs that we posted outside the school and in the hallways leading up to the polling room and to our table. We had a volunteer manning the tables and making fresh coffee. We made several hundred dollars - that's pretty good when items are 50 cents each or so. Our community loved having snacks available plus they enjoyed supporting our school. All the monies went to field trips, so that's an easy cause to support. If you have a community newspaper, you might want to advertise that your having a bake sale. That way folks will know what to expect. Good luck!

Our old PTO sold coffee and donuts but we don't do that anymore it didnt make good money. Usually presidential elections do better.

We wondered if we could sell coffee and donuts since our school is a polling place. The election officials told us it would be too risky since any chatter about the election within a certain number of feet is forbidden, even if it's just one volunteer chatting with another. I think there was a distance requirement which put us way outside the building. Check your local election bureau. Your rules might be different.

Just curious....I remember reading somewhere here about fundraising during Election Day. Has anyone here done this, and if so, what do you do. I don't believe we have ever done this, but I am curious as to if this should be something we could consider.
