Parents have lots of rigths. Taxpayers have rights too. The job of public scool principal is outlined on your state dept of ed website, search word prinicpal duties. WOrking together with parents and comminuty is just ONE of their duteis. Mediating concerns of parents is another.

Bring your issues to the attention of the superintendent, go with like minded parents and discuss at that level.

You cant talk with an alligator, or appease it - ref check out search word BULLY on these threads too amd you will see how others have dealt with less than stellar leaders to put it very mildly and diplomtatically, at public schools.

COncerns about any staff member generally have to be dealt with one level abouve, at minimum. Your primcipal is no different. Once yourve tried and failed, take it up a level and hopefully you get better reception and someone who knows their true role in their chosen public servant position - to mediate concerns and find solutions - THAT is your goal. to find a win win situation.

as I belive many of the things she does he is unaware.

We have already been specifically told we are not allowed to help in classrooms, lunch rooms or anywhere during school hours as it disrupts the children. I don't know - we ALWAYS had classroom/lunch moms when I went to school, however that was a long time ago.

Need to inform trustees and check out parent rights because if the aboves true she wouldnt be principal at any school my children attended or attends -- Parent have every right to assist at school -- ITS not a privelige (sp?) its a right

As for Hsa being separate as long as principal, teachers, parents, trusteees are invited to join/attend -- If they then feel leaftout We'll you've done all you could 2 inform them of projects, fundraisers, how the MEMBERS want their $$$ spent on EDUCATION... then I have .25 for each they can call me and whine and cry.

Communication cannot be made to be both ways, you do your best and if they dont want too, 'too bad, soo sad' for them

You did the right thing by trying to talk to her and it sounds like you've taken the conversation as far as it can go. Pushing her into telling more than she wants to won't add any value.

Going independent does not close the door on the school. I believe most of the posters here have very succesful independent groups. I'm sure you'll hear from a lot of them and get some very good advice.

Of course there are rumors - all we were told from her during our face to face was it didn't work out and she was not going to elaborate any further.

Many of the rumors stem around money issues - that she allegedly took money from the fund for her own cause.

We have set up by-laws and are waiting for them to be approved from our board of trustees, we have stipulated within them that the monies are at the discretion of the board and the membership. I am hoping that all goes well.

It is easy to say talk to the person - to dispel any rumors, however when you are given the cold shoulder from the principal, avoided by the principal, and when do get opportunity to speak with her are told "I will not elaborate" & "thats not true" what am I supposed to think?
She is a very manipulative and controlling principal, typically it is her way or the highway. I am hoping that our hsa will bring many of her ways and habits to the sight of the board of trustees, as I belive many of the things she does he is unaware.

This is the main reason I believe we should be independent, yet I feel if we do it that way we are closing the door to the school as I feel we will not have their support. We have already been specifically told we are not allowed to help in classrooms, lunch rooms or anywhere during school hours as it disrupts the children. I don't know - we ALWAYS had classroom/lunch moms when I went to school, however that was a long time ago.

Hope this gives you all some insight in which to base your advice - I am receptive to ANYTHING any of you have to say. I thank you.
