Teacher Appreciation

I'm also in charge of hospitality at my daughters school and plan all the events/activities that say "thank you" to our wonderful staff. I have found over the last couple of years that the business community is pretty generous (Target, Walmart, local grocery stores, Local mall, etc) in donating money or gift cards. I regulary hold "drawings" (put name in container and pull out winner) for gift cards. I also put together little goodie bags and just match a theme with it: candy for halloween or valentines day; cocoa mix with a candy cane in the winter months.
For our welcome back to school treat, I bought microwave popcorn at our local Costco and on each bag place a label (the address kind) that says "The PTA's just "popping" in to say Welcome Back". One will go into each of our staffs mailbox.

Hope this helps.

We used to hold our teacher appreciation luncheon during the teacher's lunch time. Steak, baked potato, salad, homemade desserts. The teachers would have to inhale the lunch and then try to go back and teach on stuffed bellies. We decided to move the luncheon to a dinner and incorporate the entire school staff, ie Teacher/Staff Appreciation Dinner and hold it at our local nutrition center. The teachers LOVE getting away from the school setting and socializing and being able to enjoy the food and not inhale it. The room gets sooo loud from talking and laughter and everyone enjoys the time. The PTO parents supply the desserts, and last year a local restaruant gave us the food at their cost per person, fixed in their kitchen and labor to fix the food was free. We had glazed chicken breast, baked potato, salad, green beans at a cost of $1.85 per person. We had donated homemade dinner rolls and the drinks were supplied by the nutrition center as well as place settings and table cloths. We also have flowers on the tables and candle light. We have contemplated in the past having students from the high school come in to play instruments, or sing, but the teachers enjoy kicking back and chatting. We also used our children and student council members to serve the food and drinks to the teachers.
