Welcome wagon

If they are brand new to the area, you may also want to include:

important phone numbers: police (non-emergency), poison control, local pizza delivery (ha ha)

a list of local pediatricians & family physicians, dentists, health clinic

phone number for your area's parks & recreation for any athletic kids

And if you're really into it, maybe a phone number of some willing PTO member who would like to be a "buddy" to a new family.

The only reason I asked was to try to put a theme with it, personally I like 'welcome wagon'

If they are new to your town you can get stuff from your local chamber that highlights different interest points in your town. Another thing is maybe a list of important phone numbers such that may be of used. Along with pto info, volunteer info, local youth groups, etc. It really is a great thing to do.

We don't have a school mascot....do most elementaries have one?

(Maybe that's an idea for this year - school mascot contest?)

Your ideas for inclusion materials are great...we had only thought about school-related stuff...Booster club info, volunteer info, Cub Scouts/Brownies info, etc...

We are considering starting a new concept this year, like a welcome wagon for new families, that our PTO will handle.

Any ideas? What do you call this committee? What do you offer to new families?
