Ice Cream Social - we have been doing them for almost 7 years and with each year we add something new. Currently, we have a make your own sundae table, meet and great with the teachers/principals, tour of the school/including the playground. The principal and myself (pto pres.) give speaches informing everyone what to expect those first few days we give out literature on the pto/pick-up and drop-off sched. etc. we also display our fall fundraiser for a "sneak peak". And the best part of the night we hire a school bus that takes the children for a ride (around the block) to get them acquainted with riding the bus. We also give each student a water bottle with the school logo on it. The kids receive name tags - we have 3 kind. classes - so each badge is different. There is a table decorated to match the badge and their teacher is wearing the identical badge so they can find their teacher. It's a great night for all!

Cash for Trash is what we call our Box Tops, Campbell's, Tyson, etc program.
I'm sorry I didn't explain all that in my earlier post. I tend to forget that newbies are coming aboard all the time and thank heavens for ya!
We are sitting up a table for the first time at kindergarten reg. I'm kinda nervous on what to expect from the parents. We will have a tri-fold set-up with pictures from the past year, a welcome letter from the PTO president, membership flyers, and I'll be selling the school tool boxes. There will be some volunteers with me that will try to "sell" the pto to the parents. I can't think of anything else for it. Hopefully, it will go well! [img]smile.gif[/img]

And you're nervous??? You can't be any more nervous than my five year old! Ask first grade moms for help and advise and the best support are the kindergarten teachers. Plus, they are so awesome! Working with them could be just the help they need and just the step forward to a great year for you!
What is the Three for Me Program? What do you put on your flier, and also, what is the Cash for Trash about? I'm going to be the new pres next year and am a little nervous about our greet and meet program that we do for all of the kids, k-3. Thanks for any help you have to offer!
We will be having a table at registration this year, our first time. I have a tri fold pamphlet about the Three for Me program and also a PTA flier. I will also include Cash for Trash Information. We are giving each child a water bottle with our school mascot, Kalkaska Elementary PTA and our motto, Together We Can Accomplish More.
Because the registration is run by appointment,I will have a few minutes to talk up our programs with each family.
