We also have students from one school meeting up with another for middle school next year, and dealt with some issues on combined field trips this year, so about a month ago we started pen pals. Students from one 6th grade to the other. The kids seem to enjoy it, and they are beginning to put names to faces as they continue on some of these joint field trips.

We have 3 middle schools in our town and are planning to host a "transition" field day in June to get the students who will be going to the Middle School together prior to beginning the school year.

Has anyone ever done this and what types of activities did you do to help the kids get to know each other, work together and break the ice.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.Thank you
