What about your high school's drama department or local theater group? Would they would be willing to do a play or skit? For Read Across America one of our aides read a story about a teacher who can't get the zipper down on her puffy coat...sorry, can't remember the name of the book...and the teachers and staff acted it out. It involved the principal, custodian, office clerk and some kids from the teacher's classroom. Our students absolutely LOVED it, and it didn't cost anything. Cheap entertainment is GOOD! LOL!
We've had 2 terrific ones. One was the author of the children's book "Muldune" and the illustrator. They were expensive (about 2,000) but believe me they were worth it. We are also going to have a laser light show as a part of our pep rally for the state testing. So that should be fun. If you are in the dc area the VA aquarium in Norfolk offers a travelling aquarium....that would be neat too...and we may do next year...d
How about local authors. Ask the DNR about wetlands assembly. Usually companies send out info to ptos in their local area/state, see if your principal has their brochures. Your local humane society will to come to the school.
