How to Get companies to help our school

You might want to check out these sources:

www.sponsoranything.com/
www.nonprofits.org/npofaq/17/28.html
www.donorsforum.org/resource/grant_u_corporate.html

I haven't done this yet for our school, but I have done some reading about the issue. Some corps. will sponsor a specific event or program if it is a way for them to get good exposure that they wouldn't otherwise get. And be aware that sponsorship is a two-way street--many companies expect something in return, such as exclusivity at your school.

I had seen a website that helped you match up with willing corporations and I can't seem to locate it. I will post it if I find it. It looked really interesting.

Also, there are a lot of books about securing sponsorships, check online or at your local library.

Start with corporations in your community. You'll have the best chance of getting donations from them since most companies' donation programs are for communities in which they have a presence. I've used phone calls, checked out websites, and sent letters. This year I've gotten the best response from making phone calls and following up with a presentation and letter sent to the person I spoke with on the phone. Some companies not only have corporate programs, but the local facility may have the ability to donate some money.

Take a look at the programs and events your group sponsors. Most companies have specific types of programs they target with their money such as reading or family involvment. Then you can delvelop a presentation and letter for that specific program/event. You'll get much better results this way than with just a general request for funds.

You may also have to provide proof of your non-profit status and even tax forms and budget information. We put together a folder with all this info in it so it is readily available.

Hey Rocky, watch me pull a rabbit out of my hat.
