Simple Math

Here it is:



24 divded by 8 = No Christmas tree, no Christmas presents, and no Christmas dinner.

24 divided by 8 + 1 = A holiday of caring given by Margaret Brent Families, for Margaret Brent Families.



Be the 1 and make a difference today by sending in your donation for our 8 families at MBES in need of your help. Their 24 children will feel the impact directly when JR Raybold and his elves do their Christmas shopping to help.



I don’t know who they are nor do I care to know…but I do know that it could just as well be me and my family looking for help. Someone once said we are all three paychecks away from anarchy. I can’t solve the world’s problems, but I can be the 1 that helps with this. I hope you can too.



Send in your cash donations or a check made out to MBES PTO in an envelope marked “Make a Difference” (we will cash your checks and give the proceeds 100% back to Mr. Raybold).



YOU will be 1 who cares, #1 in someone’s prayers, and a 1 of a kind parent who knows how very fortunate we all are but does not take that fortune for granted.

Here's one of the weekly updates:

No one has ever accused me of not being enthusiastic about our PTO. But when I have meetings like I did yesterday I just get so pumped to see the new faces and fresh ideas coming from you to our school and children. We had a terrific meeting to plan our Holiday extravaganza for December. Mrs. Truslow is reviewing what we’ve suggested now so that we can get it to you for your planning but the idea is to allow all of us to enjoy the holidays with some family oriented events. Our Holiday Shoppe will also be open before, during and after each event to allow your children to shop for their families. More details to follow.



Basket Bingo is this coming Friday and we already have some advance ticket sales. Many thanks to Diane Madden for pulling this all together for us. Remember, if you bring your military ID or a donation for the service member box we are sending overseas, you will receive 5 free raffle tickets for the evening. Items like bags of candy, writing note cards, phone cards, powerdered gatoraid, protein bars, chewing gum, commercial beef jerky, chewing tobacco (okay maybe not politically correct, but that’s what these guys want), notes from you or your children. That’s the kind of stuff we’re talking about. Now that the theater is mature over there, the guys and gals can get things from the PX etcetera, but frankly their time is so limited that the idea of going shopping instead of sleeping, well it just isn’t worth the trade. We will also show the Veteran’s Day presentation that your children will see on Veteran’s Day. Mr. Raybold championed the making of this testimonial from some of our military families and Mrs. Martin used her wonderful talents to package it all. I promise you a moving event. So, if you need a night out, we’ll have pizza and baked goods, coffee and soda…and at least one or two good laughs. We hope you’ll join us Friday, November 11th at 7pm.



Report cards are coming…and teacher meetings on the 7th and 8th. If you cannot make other arrangements and need child care you must register with Sonya. There will not be a constant presence of child care providers—we are only covering those times that people have registered for. So please, make sure you give Sonya a yell. And again, if you can spare an hour, please do. These are the days that Sonya gets those lovely gray hairs….uh I mean blond hairs.



We hope you got your Bobcat Prints last week. If not, we are going to try to post them on our website that we are working so you always have access to the information. A big night is coming on the 15th of November. At 3:30, Mrs. Wilberg will open the book sales tables in the school library. These sales support the purchase of new books for our children. I love it when our teachers target and work a fundraiser for their programs. The PTO will be in the support mode. If you can come and see if there is something you might like to pick out to support our library, you money will be well spent.



Now you know your momma has been fussing at you to get that family photo done and now you can right at Margaret Brent. Fliers will be home next week, but Life Touch will be offering family photo night at the school on the 15th starting at 5. Look for the flier so you can get all the details. Follow that up with walking around and meeting our very special Specialists (music, art, counseling, physical education, math, etcetera). They are all there in one place for you to get to know.



Also, during the day on the 15th we have asked the folks from Ident-a-kid to return at your request. We have many of you that missed the opportunity to have your children’s cards made and if you are a volunteer now is the time to get that photo done. The ladies will be in the building in the afternoon. I’ll send an update with the specific time.



Finally-we’ll cap off the evening with our PTO meeting. The meeting will focus on adopting the audit we conducted to close out last year, making one change to our bylaws (I know a bit boring but it’s business) and then we are going to brainstorm some of the projects we have planned to get your thoughts, ideas and buy in. This is going to be high energy and moving quickly. We’re trying to get samples of our pizzas that we’ll be selling, and the deserts we’ll be offering around Easter. So lend us your ear and your spirit and we’ll pop on through this thing in about an hour. I’m going to distro the audit via email so you have a chance to review it prior to the meeting. We will take any comments that you may have at the meeting and move forward from there. If there is a concern that you have once you’ve reviewed the audit, please let us know ahead of time so we can be prepared to answer you with the appropriate information and not delay the proceedings unduly. (A craft for children will be provided).

Election Day (A vote is one of those use or lose things…don’t lose yours)

10 November – Chess Tournament (you must have registered you child for the tournament).

11 Novmeber – Bingo starting at 7pm. Doors open at 6:30.

Well--why don't you just have folks put their email addresses on their membership forms and then start pushing the emails to them. We did that at the very start of the year and have 250 names on our rosters. It's easier to get folks to read if you push it to them. I'll send along some examples...dianna
