Need advice...

We had a similar problem in past years where we had one grade housed in another building. They were still part of our school and thus part of our PTO. What we did was create a board position for a liaison from that grade. So in your case you could have a board member who is the 7th grade liaison. They were essentially the go between and kept the parents of children in that grade in the loop and they distributed all the flyers and paperwork to that class. We did not have a seperate bank account for our seperated grade but I see no reason why you couldn't if you want to go that route.

If it were me I would see if one of the two people who volunteered is willing to be the liaison. Other then that I would send home a flyer letting the parents know that you will need 7th grade parents to volunteer to help out at whatever events the 7th grade has. You can't expect parents from other grades to go over there and run the show for them.

We have a small school that had to consolidate last year. This year our K-6 was nto changed but our 8-12 went to the bigger school and all the 7th graders are at our old high school. So we have a k-6 and a 7th grade campus.
Well, this year I took the Pres. position because no one else wanted it. ya heard that story before??? Anyhoo, I took it upon myself to add the 7th grade to our PTO. Only seems right as they are part of our school. Well, this is turning in to a big mess. Not only did only 2 parents volunteer, the teachers are also not seeming very interested.
The big problem is... seperating the monies made. What 7th grade makes should stay in 7th and what 6th makes should stay there, right? We considered trying to get a 7th grade PTO but don't think anyone would do it, plus they will just be here this one year, then next year our 6th graders will move up there for one year.
Basically I guess what I am asking is how would you handle this? We are even considering just finishing this Sonic Card thing and dropping it. Or maybe getting volunteers to help with the 7th grade and open them a seperate account.
ANY advice will be greatly appreciated...
