On-line Sign ups, Do they work?

I think they work for some people, but you're not going to be able to replace paper sign up forms anytime soon.

I'm just getting started into the whole middle school thing, and the school has it's volunteer form online. So I was having an involved conversation with the volunteer coordinator about this very thing the other day. The form has a number of school events listed, and some people do go online to fill it out. It works great for them. But the vast majority who sign up for stuff still do it either by paper, or as a reply to a specific email invitation.

At our elementary school, we're just getting going with the PTO Today Volunteer Builder for this year. That also effetively allows people to sign up to work for events online, but we're not very optimistic that many people will do that. We'll have to see what happens over the new few weeks when we publicize it. However, there just isn't enough other information on our website to compel parents to go there on a regular basis.

Hi,

So I was talking to a parent the other night, and she commented, how she liked how we outlined all of our volunteer opportunities on our web page. then she said "it would be great if I could click on the committee and sign up then."

So I thought wow what a great idea and got our webmaster to set up the code.

But I'm wondering has anyone tried it? does it work? were there any problems?
I get nervous and start second guessing myself after I do something wondering if I thought it through enough.

Thanks
Andrea
