It would never fly here in my district, heck our group wasn't ever allowed to do raffles until we convince our principal to do it for fundraiser prizes. I could hear her now,,,ha ha ha!

Yes, our parents and teachers are real people too, but you are representing a school for this event. It's not a group of parents and teachers going out for a night of fun. I think there is a big difference there. We aren't allowed to do bingo either. We are our own entity as well but, we have to follow the bottom line which is the Superintendent's say. Your event may work out great in your area. I'm just saying how it would be here.

This would never work at our school. Also, we got "caught" by the State playing Candy Bar Bingo and they consider that gambling so we cant even do that anymore :(

Thanks for the input! The city requires a special notice, that it will only be one day event(a few officers want to play alreeady!?). As far as the school board we are an organization that supports the school. We are our own entity and not hosting the event on school grounds. As far as the image we represent...our teachers are real people, as well as our parents, the Hollywood casino has been visited by parents, teachers at least once. The Seminole Hard Rock Casino has offered us the use of their Nightclub for future meetings parties and get togethers.

How is this different from Bingo night? Is it because bingo has been a form of legalized gambling and a family game for centuries?

Call me crazy, but I'm thinking a Poker Tournament for the Parent Teacher Organization is wrong. I'm probably one of few but I just don't think that's a great way to represent your teachers and parents and school. Our Board of Ed. would never allow it. Just my .02

It's sounds like a great idea... I'd carefully check out the gambling laws in your area first before preceding, though. It would never be allowed up here in WA state.
