This is year #2 as PTO president for me the only difference is this year I am working full time. I just made it clear that working full time would be an obligation for me this year and others will have to step up and help in order for things to get done. So far, it seems ok. We'll see when the big stuff rolls around. We have a few parents who don't work and come regularly during the day. I've had requests for evening committee meetings and what-not so I'm trying to make those adjustments.

I am a full time mom with a full time job as a sales rep and teachers aide. Plus the President of PTO and President of WMU at church. Life is fun when my calender is full but I work our school meetings when at least all or most of the officers can be at a meeting.

I am a sub aide. This makes year # 5 (whoo hoo, that is a record for me for any job)and at this point I cannot turn down any jobs that come my way. I also go to college. It gets pretty hard to squeeze in volunteering but I manage somewhat.

Through the years I have had several working moms interested in helping out. Most of the time I can find something for them to do. I try to make meeting times flexible. For example, our first volunteer meeting will be in the morning hours before I have to go to class but I've put in the newsletter for anyone that cannot make it to let us know. I am more than willing to meet with parents in the evening. In my newsletters and info I send out I try to encourage working parents to be involved in any way. In the past I've defined what can constitute as involvement. Not sure if it helped but at least I tried.

My sec works full time. She comes to evening events when she can.

Okay I am just wondering if what is happening with our volunteers is happening to others. How many of your PTO officers work part time or full time? With the economy the way it is I am seeing more and more of the hard core volunteers going back to work and seeing less involvement from new parents coming in, to be honest I am worried that others won't be stepping up in years to come. Just wondering what is going on with others..thanks for sharing
