We have the following PTO committees

1. Alumni Committee - responsible for locating all past students and keeping track of current students. working parents can help by stuffing envelopes at home

2. Fundraising committee -This person delegates and finds people to handle the fall festival, ice cream socials, silent auctions. working parents can help stuff envelopoes for donations for siletn auctions

3. Spirit Committee - box tops, soup labels, tyson project, library, read a thon, primary lunches

4. Room Parent

5. Hospitality Committee -- decorates, calls parents to make something for bake sales, fall festival deserts, decorations, etc.

I"m sure I left something out. We have one person in charge and they find the co-chair for each event they need help.

WE are sending out a form asking parents for their skills and hobbies. If it's something someone likes to do they will be more interested in doing it. We were making an animated movie last year for some visitors. Found a parents does that for a hobby. He spent ALOT of time doing it but because it like it didn't complaint aobut his time and it save the school alot of $$

I have several committees planned. Seeing that there has been 0 volunteer forms turned in I am not holding my breath. There is approx 350 students. Here are the committees that I have standing right now.

Float Committee (our schools participate in our yearly county parade)

Fundraising Committee

Fun Day Committee

Fall Fesitval Committee-which will be broken down to several sub committees after we figure out the details (this is our first fall festival).

Resfreshment Committee (for the meetings)

Grant search committee (this is designed for working parents that want to help out but are unable to put in much time at school)

Public Relations Committee

Parent Teacher Involvement Committee (this committee is responsible for meeting with other PTOs in our county)

I would also like to have a Volunteer cooridinator. Right now I am more worried about having a treasurer and VP.

Along with the committee sign ups I offered detailed discriptions of each committee. Thanks to this site and orgsites. I plan on giving the committee members guidelines also. Right now I have about 4 people signed up on these committees. Wish me luck. First meeting is August 8. Hopefully we will have more interest and I can figure out what people I need to guilt...I mean ask to do things. ;)

Don't forget to hvae someone in charge of your group's publicity. The more parents hear and see your name the more We also have someone in charge of community service!

We have a chairperson for every activity that we do. Chili Supper/Bingo Chairperson or persons, Craft Fair Chairperson, carnival, silent auction, basket raffle, chicken pie supper, family night, fundraiser, headhome room mom, ink cartridges/cell phones, box tops, volunteer chairperson (this is the one who likes to call and ask for help), donation, registration, open house, end of year chairperson. Any thing we do we add chairperson behind it. And our bylaws cover everyone of them.

Good Luck
