Thanks for the great laugh! :D Harper Valley PTA & Y&A is just so funny!

Not meaning to demean your situation, but it sounds like you've got your hands full, but with new people involved. I think you're doing a great job and just take it one day at a time. Just pretend that this is a brand new school, new administrators, etc. It's a great way start the PTO off to a good start.

Fortunatly we have too much respect for ourselves to wear our Harper Valley gear!! HA!! We did have a good laugh when a mom came to a meeting last year to adress the issue of her child and body peircings and why the school is so against her child's tounge and nose rings! It was so hard not to ask if she was serious!

It will be interesting to see what happens with the law suite and how our new Director will work out. To add a little spice, as if we need "tabasco sauce" , our school distict has added to it's dress code "No relious items can be worn". I'm going to check out the full wording, but 1) we have our our dress code so not sure it the includes us 2) how many civil rights does THAT violate 3) I NEED to be educated BEFORE parents start screaming...of course it's the district not the school but that's never enough!

I havn't watched Y&R in months! This is more inresting! OH yeah...baby is for a happily married couple-- not the Business Manager and Friend! :D

So the one having the baby wasn't the one with the finance director right? Shoot your posts are better than All My Children. LOL! As president you must make sure that not English teachers takes their kids on an "unauthorized" field trip. I assume that was of the complaints that got the ball rolling.

I know about thinner air. But what happens when only one of the people are "forced to resign" and the other gets to stay? Well the air doesn't get that much better, especially if that person doesn't even have tenure and the one sent packing was two years from retirement.

$90K??? Maybe I need to move to Colorado. The little one wants to go there anyhow.

As I read your post the song Harper Valley PTA came in to my head-ever heard it? Sounds like there was a lot of nepotism and conflict of interest going on there, and just extremely poor management.
The positive side is that it was discovered, the "guilty" parties have been dismissed and life is moving on. Sounds like the new parent board was just what your school needed. Good luck to them and to you in your PTO Prez role this year. You have a great chance to make a big difference in your children's future!

Hey Rocky, watch me pull a rabbit out of my hat.

I posted about this early this year and how our charter school would be going to a full parent run board. Well, I am really excited to say things have been going well and so many great changes have been made! Oh and the "spring cleaning"! We have a new Executive Director (not a Superintendent but pretty much same role) and a new Business Director, Finace Office staff (one had a baby and one....caught with the former Director/boss  ) new transportation director, kitchen manager...the list is crazy but the cool thing is most of the new people are former employees! Cool!

The reason for so much change? Our school has a charter (contract) with the school district that essenialy allows our school to choose our own ciriculum and governing board. Well, the School District (SD) had recieved so many complaints over some time they started looking at the operations and books. Holy Snooping Batman! They found so many issues and information to support complaints that the pressure was on to fix everything. And when the school baord that was in place refused to do anything the SD asked for the removal of the board and for the school to hold elections to bring in a parent only board....in 45 days! Once that was done then the SD asked the new board to remove the founder/executive director and husband (we are still scratching our hands over his actual job there! :D ); the transportation director and kitchen manager (another husband and wife team that messed up) the Business Manager and girlfriend/accounts payable. Many of you that are in with the politics of schools will know what I mean when I say, the air is so much lighter and people are smiling again!

With all this happening the former director still mantains that she was set-up and the SD is just out to get her! OMGh! Forget just saying your sorry or showing she wanted our problems to be fixed, no let's file a suit against the school for $90,000, her salary!

Our new board has the moto Let's move forward or we can only move forward!

How do I fit in the picture? I'm PTO Prez this year and if there a year that I need to step up this is it! Nervous scared and still can't believe this has happened! Who needs reality TV when I can just answer my phone!!!! :D
