SHOULD WE SHOW FUNDRAISER MONEY

19 years 2 months ago #112260 by laurib
In a word, YES. Tell them how much you need to meet the upcoming fundraising goals and them make thermometers that can be updated monthly to show where you are to your goals. We did this a few years ago with a computer in every classroom. Our goal was one new computer for each class. The thermometer (actually we had 3 posted around the school), had marks for each classroom and the red gauge went up everytime we raised enough to purchase another one. It worked great. The parents loved knowing exactly where the money was going. You could modify it to show the yearly committments and goals.

We have found that the best thing you can do is be open and honest. Open your books up and pass out the latest balance sheet at your next meeting. You should have nothing to hide. Show them how much money you raised this year and what you spent it on.

Set a goal for next year and then put the goal on all your fundraising flyers. Say "we are trying to raise $x to update the school". People give more when they know exactly where it's going.
