It seems that my concerns have been addressed. The PTO had a meeting and they took all the information I gathered and passed it out and discussed the issue of letting all parents interested be involved. They seem to grasp the concept that they appear to be a little clique not a PTO. I am not saying that they are immediately making an ammendment to their bylaws but some ideas and possibilities of having a membership drive at the beginning of the school year next year during a large school function like orientation appear to be in the works. Until then I guess I may go ahead and go to the meetings as a visitor and continue to push for this change and try to be positive and volunteer. The principal supports the idea and proved to be very concerned that somoeone follow up on our concerns. It seems the problem is that no one likes change or really knows how to go about it. Thanks for everyones input and help. Maybe in the future I can post that we now have a large group of parent members!!!
