Try the PTA web-site, they have a section on Parent Involvement, some of their areas are for members only, but I think that you might be able to get some helpful info on the general site. My concern is that it sounds like I'm talking only about what the PTO has done for the school (pretty much what we've paid for), but not a lot on what benefits that our involvement has had other than financial.
Daddio...I don't really have any examples but be sure to highlight all the things your group has done for your school the last two years. Is your parent attendance and participation up?? Have you been able to increase your income through fundraisers or functions?? Identify specific things that you have done for your school to help the kids. Did you put in or upgrade a playground? Did you buy computers, TV's or any other items that would aid in their educational enrichment. It's always nice to have facts and figures but you want them from things your group has done. Tell them how you've helped in getting out info to parents (i.e. group newsletter or school newsletter). Don't give them any specific figures but make sure they know all the good things that your group has done. I'm sure you can take up 15 or 20 minutes. [img]smile.gif[/img]
I have been requested to speak at our School Board Meeting on the benefits of Parent and Community Involvement. I have limited examples and background in this - most of which has only been gained through my experiences on our PTO the past two years.
Does anyone have any facts, figures or good examples I could use? They asked me this weekend, the meeting it tonight.
