I am actually working on an interactive membership form that could be downloaded, filled in, and e-mailed to me, where the data would be added to a database automatically.
The other neat thing, CapeDad, is that our new software will be online and really simple for non-techies to use. Groups with volunteers like you are so lucky, but what happens when you leave? Does the software usage (because its dependent on you) go away, too?
Good questions! The fields in the "membership application" area, as well as most of the fields throughout the program, are completely customizable. As for importing capabilities - for our early adopters we might be able to do a one time import of existing volunteer data - that still needs to be worked out. Remember that with our application - volunteers will be able to input/update their own data over the web so that hopefully the amount of manual input will be limited. After the first year you will have a large number of volunteers in your database so there is even less work to be done.

Our volunteer situation at school is a mess (this year the teachers are asked to fill out a request form and submit it to the school but the PTO has all the names of parents that are offering their time!)
THis would be great to have at the school and a win-win situation!
I'm excited about the Finance Mgr also! I can't tell you how many ledgers I have personal replaced because of pretty crayon pictures ALL OVER the book!
