Maybe you could send home a flyer with the third grade students and ask the parents to come to the last couple of meetings this year to get to know the new school.
I know as a parent, I went out of my way to find out when the last 2 meetings at DS12 middle school and DS8 (who was changing schools) were. I was glad to get there and not feel like a stranger when school started and they were glad to see that someone cared enough to check it out before the new year.
I am Treasurer of a 4/5 Academy (new this year). We would like to have rising fourth grade parents on our board and have our board for next school year nominated and in place prior to the end of the school this year. Does anyone have any experience/knowledge/suggestions of ways to bring these parents (who are not currently in the school, but are in three K-3 feeder schools) into the nominating and voting process?
