Donuts with Dad - Mini Golf

19 years 5 months ago #111718 by Serendipity
It sounds fun, but I would keep one thing in mind...Donuts with Dad & Muffins with Mom work great because they are something just about everyone can attend. It is one event that works for working parents who can stop by and have a bite with their kid before they go to work. If the time frame becomes to much you can lose the working parents who will no longer benefit from the event without losing time and money away from their job.

Sounds like a fun idea, but I know at least here in Califronia minigolf is almost a expensive a 9 holes on my regular course.

Some minigolf places offer school and large group discounts, check "Entertainmment Book" if someone has it; or maybe get sponsors for families that cant afford fees.

I've done it with Boy Scouts but never a school activity.

Good luck, sink one for us.

Two months ago we decided to do a activity for fathers day. In the past, we have not done anything like this. I was excited by this and suggested the Donuts with Dad that I read about all the time here. But, it was decided by the board to do more of an event - and Miniature Golfing was choosen.

I am concered that this is going to push people away from this type of things for a couple reasons:
- Its a much longer timeframe and specific time committment, rather than just stopping in with the kids
- Costs have gone way up (rather than a dollar or two per family, it's not several dollars per person)
- It's not at the school but at a miniature golf course

We have a meeting on Thursday to finalize the and approve the plans/costs, and I want to bring up my concerns again. Most everyone else seemed excited about the event at the last meeting. I have always wanted to make things as easy as possible so all families have the opportunity to attend. And, I think this has the strong possibility to be a huge flop.

Has anyone done anything like this before? How did it work out?
