The only thing with the books on tape...I would suggest you get the parent's permission to have their child participate. Also, I would not put student names on the packages. We are putting the book and tape in a gallon zip-loc bag with a large label on the front saying something like...Because we care.. School name and the year. Our kids safety is of the greatest importance! I hope it works for you, our kids are very excited.

I like your idea about the 4-6 grade students record books on tape. I will make a suggestion to our principal and pta prez. Maybe I can download some things for my daughter's class for this week.

I'm so very excited to have heard about this week (which is 2/14-2/20). A parent brought this up to me the other day. Check out this web site: www.actsofkindness.org They even give you cool things like bookmarks/posters/stickers that you can download.
We are a small Christian school and this is our plan... Monday- Be kind to your friend day, Tuesday- Be kind to your classmate day, Wednesday- Be kind to your school day, Thursday- Be kind to your community day (Have a heart day)We have Friday off.
On Thursday we are collecting canned food and it earns the student free admission to an afternoon movie in the gym. The food will go to our local food pantry.
We are even having our 4-6 grade students record books on tape that we will be taking to a local hospital pediatric ward.
I dont know if you have time to put any of this together at short notice but there are so many ideas on the web site.
