Ok, I get your meaning now. I don't think (hope) that that doesn't happen. I honestly don't believe it would. But then again I am a very gullible (sp) person. Just trying to believe the best in everyone.
I turned in a letter to the Board and Principal along with copies of all the ideas, so now it's a wait and see thing. All I can do is hope for the best and go on from here.
I know what you meant, closetwriter! Guess what happened this year at our school? The principal asked for a list of activities and events that the PTA was interested in running, then SHE took about 5 of them and introduced them as "school activities"...non-PTA!!!She's been getting recognition from the school board for some of "her" wonderful ideas, and she's never mentioned that the PTA were the ones that planned them, organized them, etc. And she wonders why so many involved parents are frustrated with the school?!?!?! Like you said, paybacks!!!!
I took some time at our last January (04) general membership meeting and did a brainstorming session with the group on what they would like to see the PTO/school do in the future. We allowed any comments and posted them all on large white sheets of paper around the room so all could see and, it allowed for other ideas to come up.
Then, we assigned a committee (at that meeting by asking for volunteers) to take the list see which should/could be the PTOs responsibilty. From that list we had identified about 30 items that we thought we could do and we've accomplished many of them.
closetwriter, I'm not sure what you meant, but I'm thinking that if these ideas are accepted, they'll expect me to pull them off? I can only do so much as I work full time and am involved in other projects, but will do what I can to help the school.
Or do you mean that I may not be welcome to offer suggestions? They asked and so far have seemed to be very receptive to any new ideas. So I'll see. I'm sending a packet to the PTO Board and one to the Principal. I'll just have to wait and see what happens.
