Our school has a caring tree in the lunch room for Christmas time. People are to donate hats, gloves, socks, underwear, ect. Our 2nd graders are not having a gift exchange this year at their christmas party, they are donating $1.00 each to the caring tree. The school decides where the supplies go. We have been doing it for a few years now and it helps out. If your PTO could help out families that would be great, but some parents may say that the PTO funds are for "School" and not for individual families. I would hope that that does not happen.

Should PTA sponsor a giving tree? We have nine families with 27 children that are in need. We have a budget set aside for this.

I am wondering if anyone else sponsors select families during the holidays?
