American Education Week

I went to the NEA website and found ideas in the past activity ideas section.

We (PTO) hosted a breakfast for the staff in the teacher's lounge on Monday morning. It included muffins, a box of coffee, danish, bagels w/ cream cheese, orange juice and apple juice.

Also, we broke the week down into different days for the staff members. Tuesday was for Paraprofesionals, Wednesday for office and custodial staff and Thursday for teachers, specialists and our principal. Each day we put special treats in their mailboxes.

For example: a peppermint patty with a note attached that said "Thank you for your involve-mint", or a 100 Grand bar with a note that said "You are worth a million bucks, but we can only afford 100 Grand", or M&M's with a note that says "You are Magnificent and Most Appreciated".

Eveeryone loved them and all of the candy used were fun size bars, so cost was minimal. We used a total of 3 bags and one 10 pack for all of our 52 staff members with candy left over. In total we spent less than $20.

Our PTO worked with the teachers union to celebrate AEW. We submitted a nice letter to the editor of our local paper. We also contacted local businesses that have a marquee, to display a message regarding AEW.

Does anyone out there have some ideas of simple, inexpensive things we can do for our teachers for American Education Week?

Thanks!!!
