We have been very fortunate that we were given a storage closet two years ago, there is no way they will ever get it back because there is too much stuff that we only use now and then. The principal got tired of our pile in the copy room so when the new wing was put on we lucked out. This year we also started a positive behavior school store where the kids get tickets(we take no cash) there was a half empty computer lab with counters all around it so we were given that to use. I heard we were loosing it this December but my principal said no we arent...beats packing it up all the time!
also this year due to moving rooms around we got a parent resource/volunteer room. We have a bulletin board, a round table, a wicker love seat and coffee table and hopefully this week book shelves. We have used it to cut things out, do fundraiser work, put fliers together, eat lunch and have small meetings with one on ones! We are hoping that once we actually get the resources in there that with some pushing parents will come in and read some of the info. to tie into that we are hoping to have some parent nights with certain child topics.Reading this makes me realize that we are very supported by our principal...although i have heard complaints that we have the space we do.

We have a room that is slightly bigger than a small walk-in closet. There is no room for a couch. There is room for a small desk and chair, two folding chairs, and storage. We use it primarily for storage. On homemade built and installed shelving, we keep the stuff we only use once a year (holiday decor, red ribbons, etc.), supplies like pencils and license plates for awards assemblies, party supplies (cups, plates, utensils, etc.). It doesn't take much to fill the room. It was rumored that the room was being considered for use as a tutoring room, but we nipped that in the bud. It's not much, but it is all we have and we can't afford to lose it! Even if the room is just used for small committee meetings and storage, imagine what it would be like if you didn't have it at all! Utilize it as much as possible, write the school a Thank You note, and try not to worry about using it more. If you build it, they will come...

I'm just dying to have ONE CLOSET in which to put Parents' Club supplies!! We don't even have that. I'd use it as a place to keep all your supplies, hold committee meetings, etc. I think that is sooo nice you have this!

Consider yourselves to be extremely lucky. A while back on there was a discussion on the lack of room space or storage space for PTOs. Some PTO's were thinking of purchasing storage sheds, etc... if my mind remembers correctly... I would be using it to have committee meetings, boxtop cutting, and storage facilities as most of us have to resort to using our own homes to store PTO stuff. Definitely do not lose it! ;)

Our wonderful and very supportive principal gave us a room for parents to use for ?? a couple of parents filled it with resource type materials and they are all great but no one ever uses the room except a few PTO committees for meetings and the principal for workshops. Oh there are also toys and a sofa for a play area for smaller kids. Does anyone have a room and what do you do with it and how do you get people in??? HELP!! please we don't want to lose the room we want to see it used!!!!
