Room moms (parents)

Some people always think that someone else will come forward and do it. Instead of finding one mother to run 3 parties maybe you can get 3 mothers to run one party each?

If you can do it, I would start calling these parents. I would tell them this is a last ditch effort to get these children their parties and that unless some people volunteer that unfortunately this class will be the only class in school not having a party ( I wouldn't let them know there were others ~ I am evil like that)
Give them the dates and times of the parties and ask them if their is anyway they can help out.

Since none of these people are around during the day (or so they claim) I would just leave this message on their machine.

If you still do not get the help you need I would then send a flyer home telling them that this class will not be having any parties.

Of course you will find a way to get the parties done, but I would never let them know that.

It truly is a sad and pathetic statement when parents just do not care.

I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on what to do when you can't get a room mother to run three holiday parties. We are a K-3 school, with about 25 main classrooms. We have 7 classrooms that we still do not have a party parent for; this is after three letters have been sent home. I understand that some parents work and can't be there during the day but I have asked for an Aunt, Uncle, Grandparent, anyone at this point. I will not cancel the parties because it would only punish the kids but at some point I am wondering why I am worried more about their feelings than their own parents. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get one parent to make a commitment?
