Sounds like an excellent idea. We have open house, but it's not that formal and we don't get a lot of participation. I hope it works out for you.

At our school we have a Parent night. Every teacher hosts all the Parents in their classroom for an hour to go over what is going to taught the upcoming year, and what the Teachers expectations are.

This year for the 1st time we are having a Board Member visit each classroom to give out a PTO information sheet and do a quick 2-3 minute verbal presentation about the PTO and the fundraiser.

So far it is working great and we are reaching the parents like we never have before.
