Recruiting Volunteers

Our school doesn't do book rentals either, but you could buy school supplies for the next year.

Alot of new parents gripe about how much supplies we have to pay per year. We have to buy everything, crayons, glue, scissors etc. I would like to see our PTO give more money to be used just for that. Our teachers only get $100.00 per year from the PTO. I would like to see that drastically increased.

Thanks for posting this idea! This is a good idea for organizations who track parent volunteer hours as well. Our school tracked over 8000 parent volunteer hours last year, but if everyone had actually written down their hours, I'm sure we would have had more!

Our school doesn't rent books, but the idea is a good one. Our PTO could easily give a $100 prize at the end of the year for something like that.

Our PTO came up with a good idea so I'd like to share it with yall. We have sucky parent volunteering. This year every time a parent volunteers for a PTO held event (not room parties) they will receive a ticket to fill out with their name and number. At the end of the year we will pull a name (possibly more depending on how much volunteer-ism we get) and the winner will have 1 child's book rental paid for the following school year. If the child is moving up a grade to the next school we will pay their book rental also.
