I just recently wrote a letter to the parents myself. We are planning our carnival and there are only 2 ppl helping out (including myself) as of right now if we don't have more volunteers there is no carnival. I'm hoping my letter has the same results as laurib's

A couple of years ago, the President and I put together a letter that was sent out to all families in our district. The basic just of the letter was "THE KIDS NEED YOU". We simply listed all of the events that the Parent Club did in the past year. We then listed all the fund raising that we did in that same year and explained how the funds were spent. The letter went on to say that if more parents did not step up and volunteer to help run these events we would have to start eliminating events.
The response was overwelming, lots of phone calls, attendence at our meeting is not up, but the number of volunteers is up considerably. I was even able to hand off the chairperson handbooks for 4 different events that I was in charge of last year. I still chair 3-4 events a year, but they are the ones that I truly enjoy doing.
Hope this helps

We have not great involvement when it comes to events this year! A first for us really, we have had a real loss, also our meetings are very small the biggest meeting this year was 8 people! What to do? Are parents just to busy to care and why. I work full time and have 3kids only 2 in school but I make time how to make it important to them? I know this is the same old thing and to tell the truth the meetings don't really upset me to much if we have everyone involved in the events but that is not the case! I don't want to see the kids suffer as our budget is already this year! It is tight for money for our whole district so its not just us there it is the economy. But in any case how do I get them to give their time back!! Help please!!
