The PTO payed for the donuts. We had donations for door prizes and napkins and juice. We tried to get some kind of deal on the donuts, however the best we could do was WalMart gave a 10% discount. We thought it would limit some people if you charge anything. We thought about having a donation box, but decided against it. We sent out a flyer. On the bottom was a form to fill out and send back in help us know how many to expect. Our school has very limited parking so, we had the gym teacher and assistant principal parking people on the grass. We were all very overwhelmed with the response! Literally people were sitting everywhere, on the floor, in the hall, etc. Next time we may need to have it divided by grade level. A different grade level each day. We were even featured in our local paper. I would reccomend this to ANY school. All the teachers commented they had never seen this many Dad's in school in their 20+ years of teaching combined! Just curious, was this event sponsored by PTO and did PTO pay for everything? or did the Dad's pay? We have been thinking about doing this but we weren't sure how to figure out how many donuts to order, etc. Any info would be appreciated. [img]tongue.gif[/img]
Our school hosted its first ever Donuts with Dad yesterday. The turnout was amazing! We are a K-2 school with approximately 450 students. We had over 700 people show up!! It literally brought tears to my eyes to see so many Dad's!
Needless to say, I think this will end up being an annual event!
