Excellent Schools, Not just PTA but for everyone

20 years 10 months ago #108942 by 4 kids
Not to toot our own horn, well maybe a little, but... We did it and were recognized as a school of excellence. The principal coordinated the documentation by forming a task force and giving them each a section. Our PTO fliers, email updates, requests and newsletters were included. It really was a great honor. We have the placque that was presented to us hung near our bulletin board in the main lobby. We now include the emblem on our newsletter. Hopefully more parents will jump on and join in. :D

I just started to get our team together. The principal is essential and no room for an alternate. That is the only drawback in building the team if the principal is uncooperative but hopefully ours will be on board.
Wouldn't it be wonderful and a very different world if all the nations schools qualified?

Michele...Thanks This is a great assessment tool. Im not sure if our school will try for certification but just reading through it is like a wake up call...we are doing so much right yet there are also very weak spots. I talked with my principal about getting together a team to assess our school. What a great way to really look at the broad picture!!THanks!!

The Parent Involvement Schools of Excellence Certification recognizes schools whose parent involvement programs are based on the National Standards for Parent/Family Involvement Programs. This certification is designed to help schools in the nation assess their parent involvement practices, make improvements where needed, and earn one of two distinctions:

Certification of Excellence, for schools that have outstanding parent involvement practices in place.

Recognition of Commitment, for schools that are committed to pursuing excellence in parent involvement.

The certification is given by National PTA but is open to all schools, not just PTA but you will need to begin the certification process. Our school district has a goal of having all of our schools, both PTA/PTO certified by the end of this year.
