Add Interest to Meetings!!!

20 years 10 months ago #108902 by laurib
Do you discuss any PTO issues at your meeting, maybe after the speaker, or is it just an informational speaker for parents to listen to with no PTO business?
The goal at our meetings is to get more parents involved in the planning stages of activities, we can handle the business part of it anytime. I guess I just don't want to have to plan another thing, like scheduling a speaker if that is the only reason the parents are there. But, if you are actually have a meeting with all the parents after or before the speaker I guess it could work, how long do these meetings last and do the parents actually stay around to particiate in the planning stages of things?

The parents say they want PTO general meetings but no one every comes. I'd love a list of your topics. Thanks.

If PTO meetings are strictly business, I think attendance will always be pretty pathetic. However, if you make your meetings more interesting, it will draw more people. We are working on scheduling guest speakers for most of our meetings this year. For routine business, the board members are to be there at least 20 minutes before the general meeting time. A poll showed that the parents want meetings to be centered around topics that have to do with raising children today and the issues both children and parents face. That's what we're striving for!
