Thanks SueMac. Outnumbered started because I am the only female in a house of boys (that includes my 3 kids, husband, dog and a turtle). I found that it applies to most of the stuff I do for the school too. [img]smile.gif[/img] Thank you for your ideas, they are great! I think to start, I will have a sign up sheet for new parents who want a seasoned family to hook up with. Then, move on to the children having buddies in school. Thanks again!

We do 2 things that almost fit the bill:
Each August a member of our Parent-Teacher group sends a handwritten postcard to each Kindergartener and family and all new students and families. We welcome them to our school community and offer our name and phone number to call with ANY questions...
In addition, each Kindergartener (not family) is teamed up with a 4th Grade "Lunch Buddy". The Lunch Buddy picks them up for lunch and helps the Kindergartener through the whole process (lunch line, opne stuff for them, etc.) They make
holiday things for each other in class and maintain a great friendship all year!

I believe I saw that in one of the PTO mag articles. It basically was a sign up sheet for new parents if they wanted a mentor and then you match them with a seasoned family. I wanted to do this for the incoming kinder families this year but was shot down by principal. "If families have questions they can call me." BLAH!
I thought that I saw something on here about families who have been at the school for a while mentoring new families. I can't find it now, but I would like to know if any of you do this and if so, how do you do it? Kind of like a buddy family for each new family?
