Here's ours. (I must have got original idea of quoted time commitment from you JHB!)

Volunteer Coordinator: Acts as liaison between PTA and classroom/school volunteers. Assist in organizing volunteer orientation. Keeps master classroom volunteer schedules. Reassigns school volunteer if necessary. Works to recruit and fill volunteer opportunities within the school. Works to create non-traditional volunteer opportunities for working families. Maintains database of volunteers and their special skills and talents. This position would also become the SCRIP specialist educating the families on SCRIP through the Classroom Coordinators. (About 10 hour/mnth--again hard to judge because this would be a new position)

You'll need to customize the description to fit your own organization, but here's how we listed it while recruiting positions this year. Note - we emphasize that these are intended to be heads of committees, with others to share the workload and also that any position may be co-chaired.

Volunteer Coordinator: Coordinate volunteers for PTO events and school activities. Collect list of general volunteers at beginning of year and for special events. Assure that volunteer data is recorded and available to both the Board and teachers. Work with teachers, staff, and leaders of committees to assure volunteers are recruited for programs. On-going dialog with Grade Parents as to class and grade activities. (Effort: on-going, year round; time peaks with a few big events. Average: 3 hours per month; could range from 0 to 8 hours per month during major events.)

? is the new president. looking for you to give her, what your job description is? or is the new president looking up what you job description is so she can tell you what she needs you to do? At our school the volunteer co. is the vice-principal, because as volunteer our self we are not able to see if a person has passed the back ground check. Once a volunteer has passed the back ground check, the vice principal pass there name to the pto president, the pto president call the volunteer finds out what they want to volunteer for and then signs them to the right programs. I do not konw how you school dose it?

HI
I just became my HSA's volunteer coordinator. I am not sure what that all entails. THe new pres. is looking for a job description. I think I am in charge of tracking volunteers since our school requires a parent to volunteer 2 hours a month. Does anyone have any idea's on how to start.
