My concerns would be that the district could be sued if the playground equipment is not installed properly and someone gets hurt. Is your district at all required to provide playground equipment for your schools? Can you set up a meeting with your Superintendent to discuss the codes, rules, etc. on this matter? Perhaps if they realize that the legal ball could end up squarely in their lap, they'll be a little more willing to cooperate? You may also want to find out if the PTO can be held liable for improperly installed equipment if they are the ones to install it? It all seems so frustrating sometimes, like we're asking for the moon, when all we want to do is for the children.

We live near a small local technical college and occasionally use engineering students for things like that.The college kids even get extra credit for helping us out, so it's a win-win situation.

Have a fundraising brain storm, take bids, and hire someone who knows what they are doing. Conact your local Parks and Rec. Dept. They may can help you. Keep begging, it will eventually happen. Then find someone to inspect it, again Parks and Rec. could probably help you.

We've ordered over $2,500 worth of playground equipment and we can't seem to get enough parents who know what they are doing to get it put up. It involves the 'right' tools, concrete, lots of labor etc..., the school nor the school district can or won't help us. They don't have the time (we have to great maintenance guys but not the right equipment) and the school district doesn't have the time). Our principal says it's up to the parents to put it up. It took 3 months to get a tire swing up! Now, it's April and we still don't have a new slide and toy up that's been sitting there for a month! How do I get help? I can get lots of mom's to help! My concern is if the 'wrong' people put it up - it will fall and hurt the kids!
