Since you originally were doing finance, have you tried calling other investment firms to see if they have speakers available??

If you have a local Big bank chain near your school, call them too. Sometimes they can offer financial planning mini-workshops.

Your local librarian, book seller or school librarian to talk about what's coming up in children's books.

Some police departments offer internet safety.

Some local hospitals will offer community workshops on topics like, asthma, siblings, ADHD, etc.

Try your local chapter of Toastmasters, too.

Sometimes those meetings you put plan yourself are the best! How about conducting a "getting to know you better" activity as a team-building/ interesting replacement for a guest speaker. Depending on the size of your group, you could divide into smaller groups and have each person share a fact about themselves that others probably don't know, and then answer a question, like "What three values do you hope your students have reinforced at school?" The groups can then report out on their list. Note how many of the values are alike and different. Good way to have some great discussions and further the goal of parents supporting one another because they know each other. Just an idea - doesn't require much prep! [img]smile.gif[/img]

Does anyone have any ideas for a meeting subject that can be done in a week? We were suppose to have a finance night and it fell through and I the meeting is next week.
