Scavenger Hunt

The format is lost in posting this to the board, but picture it looking like a calendar with the block grid containing one question per block. The form was two sided and families had a max of 20 minutes to finish it. The first ten families to complete the grid with the most correct answers received school recipe books, and learned a whole lot about the trivia of the school.

Enjoy and have fun!

If it is a school sponsored event, are you sure that you can have folks driving here and there and be covered by the liability insurance of the school? With kids and cars, just a thought to err on the side of caution.....

We do a scavenger hunt for our back to school night, but the questions are all relative to the school grounds and then we do a picnic dinner on the lawn of the school. It is intended mostly for the new families, but it is a good way to get the old families and the new families to interact and discuss and play with items relative to the school.....

If you would like a copy of the scavenger list/grid, let me know

Does anyone have any experience with hosting a scavenger Hunt for families to participate in?
This would be for an end-of-the-year fun event, not a money maker.

I was thinking of something that works like this. Our school district is a large rural community. I would make a list of 20-30 questions. Parents would meet in the gym one saturday morning and get the list of questions. Then they would have 2 hours to find the answers/items. Example questions: How many houses are on ___ Rd between ____ Rd and ____ Rd? What color is Mrs. Miller's (teacher) barn? What type of tree sits on the corner of ____ Rd and _____ Rd. Name 4 streets in Perrinton that start with a "P". How much would it cost to buy 1 gal of milk and a loaf of bread at Curtis' Grocerty store?

We'd probably start at 10:00 and have everyone back by 12:00. The first one back with the all the correct answers or whoever has the most correct answers by noon would win. I was hoping to get some cool prize like tickets for the family to a local amuzement park or a weekend at a campground.

Then after the hunt we could have a hotdog BBQ and possibly some more family type games.

Just wondering if anyone could help with some possible ideas, places where you could see things could go wrong.
