New School starting a PTO

New School starting a PTO was created by HighNote71
Hi,
I am new to all of this. I have been reading the posts here for the last 2 weeks and have found a lot of good information. My job at the very first meeting we had was to find the differences between a PTA and a PTO. We are a small school with only 92 kids and for what we are wanting to do it was hands down PTO. I have been trying to find if there are any compines out there that offer free websites for schools. Either free or low cost. We are talking about starting one that we can put information up on for the PTO and also for the school. We want the teachers to be able to communicate with the parents as to what is generally going on in the class. What they are suppose to be learning so we can reienforce it at home. The school is private and specializes in students with learning disablities, ADHD, emotional handicap and others. I am brand new to all of this. My step son came to live with us a year ago (oh and we were just married a year ago but that's a whole other story)and when the school year was up I spent this past summer looking for another school. And by the grace of GOD I found this one. His last school had no type of parent group. This is the second year that his new school has been open and we are trying to start a group of parents who care about their kids and what is going on with them at school. If any of yall have any helpful advice we would greatly appreciate it. We have not joined the NPN yet because there are no funds to do so but I really want all of that information so I think I am going to just do it on my own. We have not ellected any officials yet but I want this thing to work. Just in the time that school has been in these teachers and administrators have made such a difference in our child that I want to give back what I can.
Thanks for any help
Gayle
