i just sent you a copy of the volunteer sign-up form we use. (this particular one we use for "spring recruiting." as we are a middle school, it also goes to our 3 feeder elementary schools.) also sent the summary of volunteer options... goes hand-in hand with the volunteer form.

and last... our PTO tri-fold... that includes the school/PTO calendar (2 panels)... so, for the most part, volunteers can see when their events take place.vol

we do have a committee for "volunteers." this includes parents available to help when needed... by other PTO committees but really more so for the school and teachers. this includes a parents who don't want to commit to any one given committee and offer a variety of services, from making copies, laminating, desktop publishing, etc... when they sign up for the "volunteer committee" they are asked if there's any special skill/talent they have to offer. in the fall, the volunteer chair sends a letter to all the teachers to let them know about this "adjunct" volunteer workforce and the talents they can share, etc.... this is especially good for parent's who can only help at night... there are lots of projects that can be done in the evening at home.

hope you find some of this stuff helpful.

msfee - I've sent you the forms I have on my computer - yes they are a bit out of date - but the ideas on them might inspire you as you try to come up with your own forms. Best wishes for a great year and people working together for the best of the kiddos.

I just sent you the forms that were in our packet - the Homeroom Committee form, and the Volunteer Chairmen's Committee Sign Up form. The Volunteer sign up form has a few descriptions that we provided so folks had an idea what the volunteer committment entailed.

Hope these descriptions can help get your thoughts clear in your head since I know how it is - once you start reading other ideas - your own ideas just start forming and you just start typing - then before you realize it - those ideas in your head now are real, are on paper and fit your schools own situation to a Tee!

Best of luck.

Lori,
I am a new Parents Assisted Learning PAL's coordinator. I have some forms that may be of interest to you. I gave descriptions of all roles parents could volunteer for. I then displayed these on poster boards outside each classroom before school started. I had a sign up sheet where parents could sign up for different jobs. I also had a sign up sheet for parents who could not committ to a regular time to help out and a sign up sheet for parents with Special Talents. Let me know if you would like to see these.
