Our bylaws include a mission statement as one of the articles. This tells you where the bylaws are going. This statement must be what your PTO is willing to cover and everyone is different. We state The relationsships within the ___________PTO, which includes students, teachers, staff, parents and patrons, are a vital influence on the success of our childrens futures. Therefore, our purpose is to foster a sense of support, pride and enthusiasm. Through a variety of PTO run activities, we will promote positive school/community relationships that enhance our children's educational environment. Hope this helps!
Hi! As part of a new school, our PTO is about 3 years old. Our executive committee feels the need to develop a mission statement/vision statement to help our school staff, board and parents understand what we're about. We're looking for some advice (or, better yet, samples) from other PTOs who have already been through this step.
Note: we're not talking about by-laws here -- we're pretty set with *how* things should be done, we're looking to define the *why* in a "greater purpose" sort of way. Any advice would be much appreciated!
